About Acupuncture. Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world. Acupuncture is safe, natural, sustainable health care. Acupuncture can be used to relieve pain and stress, support healing and wellness, and improve your quality of life. It is capable of addressing a very broad range of health concerns.
During an acupuncture treatment, the acupuncturist places thin needles into specific points on the patient’s body to activate the body’s ability to heal itself. In my clinic patients sit in recliners, fully clothed. I practice a style of acupuncture that uses distal points below the elbows and knees and on the head to treat problems anywhere in the body. Friends and family members are welcome to come in together for a treatment.
Acupuncture is not considered primary care medicine. Acupuncture is a wonderful complement to Western medicine, but it is not a substitute for it. If you want someone knowledgeable to go over the details of your medical history with you, you need to see a primary care physician. I cannot diagnose Western medical conditions.
